How is it improving every year?
While a lot of cities might boast that they’re on their way up, none can say it quite like Austin. The central Texas city has been ranked No. 1 on Forbes’ list of Fastest-Growing Cities for five years running now; its population grew nearly 4% between July 2013 and July 2014 alone. Austinites are proud of their city—and with good reason!
Why does it attract so many residents?
There are many reasons why people flock to Austin. The city consistently ranks as one of America’s fastest-growing cities year after year. Not only is it one of the most desirable places to live because of its culture, but there are also plenty of jobs available for individuals who wish to relocate.
What should you consider before moving there?
If you’re planning on moving to Austin but have been on hold because of your current location, here are some things you should consider before making your final decision.
First off: what do you want out of a city? Do you want a big town with low living costs where you can save money for a rainy day? Then Dallas is probably better for you than Austin.
Why do so many people want to live here?
The reasons why people live here are numerous. From arts events, new business ventures, great food and drinks, festivals, parks and outdoor activities—Austin is a small metropolis with a big attitude.
If you’re tired of feeling like you’re missing out on all that life has to offer when you live far away from any major city or if you simply want a different way of life than what your current living situation can provide for you; look no further than Austin.
What is making this city one of the best places to live in Texas?
The city of Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in America. Known for their live music, indie businesses, and beautiful people it’s no wonder they are consistently ranked as one of America’s best cities to live.
Austin was recently voted America’s Most Wired City by Forbes Magazine which named them because residents have very high penetration rates for high-speed Internet access at home.
Are there any disadvantages of living here?
With an average annual rainfall of 51.7 inches (1), more than two times higher than any other city in Texas, there are some disadvantages.
First and foremost is flooding. With three major rivers running through town (Colorado River, San Antonio River, and Town Lake) it can be difficult to build homes on hillsides for fear of erosion or building too close to a body of water because if flooding hits one home it could easily reach another.
Is this a good place for families or young professionals?
Austin is a fantastic place for families. The city offers affordable housing options throughout neighborhoods where there’s easy access to schools, parks, libraries, and other family friendly attractions. If you are an individual looking for a sense of community or want to live within walking distance of your workplace, then Austin may not be for you.
When it comes to professional development opportunities through business networks and mentorship programs at local universities and corporations; however, you can’t beat Austin.
Are there any affordable neighborhoods nearby with great views and easy access to local schools and parks?
Yes. There are affordable neighborhoods nearby with great views and easy access to local schools and parks. The Southeast area of Austin is a great place for families that want a tight-knit community but still want quick access to downtown or local entertainment venues.
Most neighborhoods here have easy access via major roads (35 or Mopac) that go into Downtown without too much traffic congestion.
The University of Texas is also located in Southeast Austin which provides another resource for finding affordable housing options as well as excellent schools.
